Brenna & Addison - Wedding Photography

BrennaAddison

Brenna and Addison were a unique couple in my cadre of weddings this year. Addison is a US Marine and was being moved last year so they went out and got married. No fanfare or parties. They enjoyed a brief time together and then were apart for 5 months. They were looking to throw the official wedding party when they finally got to see each other again and I got to be a part of it. One of the fun parts of the situation is that Brenna was pregnant and since they were married already, nobody was trying to pretend otherwise. It added a fun dimension. You can see the love between Brenna and Addison all over their photos. I had a great time hanging out with them and they were one of the most down-to-earth, grateful couples I've ever worked with.

Vintage Cars and Dogs - Cliff and Shannon

MAIN PHOTO

I have been so excited to post these for a long, long time! Shannon and Cliff took the whole vintage theme by the horns and wrestled it down til it started crying and called uncle!
Take a look at the images and you can see how much fun we had! We shot at Murray Park and just had phenomenal light. You can check out the video on our facebook page.

Happy Veterans Day -- Air Force Awards Banquet

MAIN PHOTO

This is a unique Veteran's Day for me. I just spent the last few days shooting at an Air Force recruiter convention in Jackson Hole, Wyoming with one of my favorite photographers ON THE ENTIRE PLANET, Andrea Hanks. I very much enjoyed the spirit they exude.
For a special Veteran's Day blog post I am posting some of the shots from the conference.
The highlight for me was the symbolic ceremony celebrating the missing and killed in action that couldn't be there. Each part of the table setting meant something. It was very moving. That is what I have included in my post today.
I thank all those who serve.

IKEA Engagement Photos - Can Life Get Any Better?

MAIN PHOTO

I admit it. I love IKEA. I love that it's a huge maze. I love that their designs are innovative. I love that they have revolutionized the furniture industry in an interesting way. I love that they set up full apartments in the store, and hello...Swedish meatballs RIGHT IN THE STORE!?! How can you not love that!?
Of course, Ali and Eric didn't know this when we were discussing their engagements and they sheepishly asked if I would be willing to shoot at Ikea. WILLING? I I knew we were meant to be.
Don't worry, there's a backstory. Eric lives a good hour away from Ali and they needed somewhere in the middle that they could meet and hang out for a while when they got the chance...Ikea was perfect. You can sit on the couch and chat, when you get bored, you just switch rooms! You can eat all sorts of Scandanavian confections like, um, chicken nuggets. There's even a dark corner here and there, (wink, wink, nudge, nudge, know what I mean, know what I mean...)
So we did it. I was excited about the creative opportunity to shoot somewhere different.
It was actually quite the lighting challenge with so many different types of light going on at once. We couldn't go too crazy on the setup because it's still a working store and we didn't want to disrupt. We worked with a couple speedlights and had a really great time. I am really looking forward to shooting their wedding in December!

Ben - Six Years Old

Ben -MAIN PHOTO

Ben is a familiar face to me. I've shot him every year for most of his life.
So now he's all of six years old. It's pretty amazing to get to watch these kids grow up. Ben loves dogs and puzzles so we incorporated both into his shoot. We borrowed our neighbors' dog and Ben and Sida had a great time messing around...almost TOO much fun. So here's Ben.
(His little sister, Lucy makes an appearance as well, I guess she liked HER session with me so much that she refused to be left out.)
