Top 10 (or so) of '10 - One-A-Day Android Phone Photos

As you may know, I spent 2010 doing a project I call The One-a-Day Photo Project.  The goal was to shoot an image every single day of the year, with the equipment limited entirely to my Android phone and the apps contained on it. I has so much fun doing it and the blog got worldwide attention.

So here they are, my faves. I know, there are more than 10. I simply couldn't cut it down any further!

This image is just so clear and colorful that I can hardly believe that it came from a cell phone camera.

I love this one because I'm a huge M*A*S*H fan and saw this Korean War era ambulance just sitting in a driveway one day.

Definitely one of my favorites. Its makes the shopping cart seem like a person to me. I know what it's thinking.

The kind of sky that doesn't come along all that often and I was just thrilled that I had a camera. It was breathtaking.

{Photo IQ: I'm going to talk about the image of the leaves for the instructional part of the post. Sometimes the most important aspect of photography is simply being in the right place at the right time. I went out for a walk with my camera on an autumn day after a frost and saw these leaves trapped in ice on the pond near my house. It's a rare and beautiful phenomenon and only lasted about 30 min before the pond melted again and the leaves sunk to the bottom. The tip for today day is simply to SHOOT! Get out there with your camera and make images. Take photo walks, either by yourself or with a friend. If you're in Utah you can go to http://www.photowalkingutah.com/ or organize your own. Shane & Amanda - Glacier National Park, Montana

After one of my favorite engagement sessions ever in City of Rocks, Idaho, I wondered what Shane and Amanda could possibly do to top it. I knew their wedding ceremony would be wonderful--a destination wedding in the Sawtooth Mountains--but they had much bigger things in mind. They decided to do their wedding portraits a few days before the wedding in one of the most beautiful places on earth, Glacier National Park. It was a quick trip but WOW! I want them to get married every year. Keep tabs on the blog because their wedding day is still to come!

Shane & Amanda - Engagement Session

Shot at the City of Rocks in southern Idaho in May, we were trying to capture the unique combination of sophistication and natural simplicity. Shane and Amanda are a young, dynamic couple who love a night under the stars just as much as a night on the town. We traveled to their very favorite camping spot to shoot their engagement session. Amanda mentioned that she looked through about 38 pages of photographers on Google. I'm so glad that they chose me! We've become such good friends. Their wedding is all processed and still to come so keep an eye on the blog.

This was the next morning after we shot the John and Maree's engagments. I got up early to get some good landscape shots of the Salt Flats. I like my job.

What's my Wallpaper? (Episode 2)

It's time to play another game of, "What's My Wallpaper?!"

My current wallpaper is a shot I took while driving around photographing houses. Believe it or not, it's through a field looking east from about 13th east in Sandy, Utah. Basically right in the middle of the city.

Winter, do your worst, your days are numbered!

Even though it's supposed to snow today, I am feeling good about the weather. I shot two weddings this week and both took place under beautiful, warm skies. Both weddings were wonderfully fun with two great couples. I say this a lot but we work with the best people in the world!
Wednesday was Colleen and Derek who got married in the Provo, Utah LDS temple and had their reception at the White Willow reception center in Provo. The highlight for me HAS to be the top hats and tails of the groomsmen. Classy.
Amy and Geoff got married in the Salt Lake temple and had their dinner at The Old Meeting House.
There will be some pictures of both of these events in the future but for now I am going to bid adieu to winter (despite the snow) with some images of the coming of the snow last fall. The pond by our house was frozen over before the fall leaves were even gone. Never one to leave a good photo alone, I threw the baby girl into the stroller and we went for a walk to document the phenomenon.
